Pakistan is an agriculture based countary. Our economy is based on our crops. We have the world's largest canal system in our countary. But our dams and water storage system has a limited life. Our dams and water storage areas are being filled by sand.
The second alternate of canal water is the underground water. Mostly an electric motor or a diesel engine is used for this purpose. With the increasing load sheding and steep rise in the price of fuel in Pakistan both of these methods were disturbed badly.
As an Engineering Company of Pakistan Damcon owns its part for the research and developmant in alternate solutions of irrgation in future.The research on the solar tube well for irrigation purpose was started in year 2003 when we forcasted that our corps will need an alternate solution for water.
Surveys were done to find out the requirement of water for irrigation and level of underground water. After getting all the data from interior Punjab and Sindh we made final shape of our requirement for irrigation solution. We started searching the international market for the products available to suit our needs.
We found in the begining that the initial cost of solar tube well is very high and beyond the reach of a common farmer. Still we did not stop working and made our reports for any future opertunity.
